Bartholin's Cyst Abscess Treatment
Bartholin's glands are glands located on both sides of the vagina entrance, to the right and left. Bartholin's glands open with a thin channel to the entrance of the vagina, just in front of the hymen. We do not normally see the Bartholin glands, nor do we feel them by hand. These glands secrete the liquid inside the vagina during sexual intercourse, thus providing lubrication at the entrance of the vagina and preventing painful sexual intercourse. The secretion of the Bartholin gland begins in adolescence and increases with sexual arousal. If the Bartholin's cyst is large and there is a sign of pressure during sexual intercourse, it is treated surgically. However, if an abscess is formed, it must be treated surgically.
